re-affirming my love for Gossip Girl

So sometimes Pilots can be deceiving. They promise one thing, and then deliver another. Not "Gossip Girl". After just viewing the second episode I have decided it is the best show I have seen in a LONG time.
It is better than the O.C. plus Laguna Beach plus any other teen drama you can conjure up.
Even book lovers like the show (ask "Gossip Guru", who texted me her support during tonight's show).
This is it folks. If you haven't seen it, get to the cwtv.com and watch it.

You are going to have to do better than saying the show is better than the OC/ Laguna Beach to get me to watch it. I mean watching re-runs of a 5 year old curling match is/ was a better than watching those two shows. The show being on the CW is also a turn off as there are not really any CW shows past or present that I have like. I can't fully judge the show until I see it though, so I will try to have an open mind. I just wanted to say that comparing it to two awful shows is not going to get me excited about it.

filmguru: you have a good point. I was not a fan of either of those shows (OC or Laguna Beach)...I was trying to find something to relate GG to and unfortunately those were the shows I came up with.
Don't be so quick to knock the CW. While their past material has suffered, it is a fledging network and is working hard to re-tool its image and gain a new fan base. Going after proven success like Josh Schwartz and recruiting hot young casts (like that of Gossip Girl) is just the first of many moves the network is taking to revamp its image.
I'm interested to hear what you think, though. Please give GG a shot and let me know.

I'm not going to lie, I really don't know what Gossip Girl is about, however, based on what I'm getting from the blog and these comments, I don't see how it's going to revamp the image of CW. Isn't that already what the network is...shows with hot young casts? At least that's what it was back when it was the WB with 7th Heaven, Dawson's Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Popular, Felicity; I could go on and on...

Am I wrong in thinking this show kind of also has a Cruel Intentions vibe to it...living in new york, wealthy kids, etc..Why do we all like this SO much? I mean I am guilty too- but doesn't the reappearing theme of wealthy kids living a non-realistic normal life kind of set people up to never have a real grasp of what it takes to work and not be given everything- look at MTV with: Sweet Sixteen, My Super Sweet Sixteen, Newport Harbor, Laguna Beach, The Hills, etc..I walk around malls and see little girls ALREADY owning and carrying Dooney BURKE Bags- can someone expain this to me? or at least think about it! Or a possible talk for table talk...<3 ebuzzz
