Summer excited, other's not so much

Sorry about the cheesy title. I had to do it. I'm talking about this summer's slew of big box office hits that will keep me heading to theatres and spending money I don't have. It starts in little over a week. That's right the web-slinging, heart-stopping, edge of your seat action is back with Spiderman 3. Don't you dare take a breath though, because soon after Pirates of the Caribbean will be sailing into theatres. If the seas are too rough for you than you can always test your luck at Ocean's 13. Trust me these waters will be nice and smooth thanks to leading men like George Clooney and Brad Pitt at the healm. For the girls school may be out for summer but there is always some learning left to do...thus our favorite gossip topic takes to the big screen in Georgia Rule. If you aren't a Lindsay Lohan fan than maybe Felicity Huffman and/or Jane Fonda's presence in the film will be enough to get you to see it. I want to go only because the plot almost too ironically mirrors Lohan's actual life. I'm getting sidetracked, sorry. Back to the big stuff. You have to be deaf and blind to not know about the Harry Potter mania that will be consuming the month of July this summer. In fact, I don't think either of those things would serve as an excuse either. Warner Brothers plans on making a killer with the fifth enstallment of its billion dollar francise. Daniel Ratcliffe and Emma Watson are older, wiser, and well-let's me honest- far better looking than when these films first got off the ground (come on you saw the pictures of Daniel naked doing that play in London, admit it. And guys, we all know you dig Hermione now that puberty has set in). A week after viewing the film you can rush out to stand in line along with millions of other anxious fans to grab the coveted final book. I feel like crying already and I don't know how it ends yet! While all of this is taking place theatres will also be working to lure you to one of the OTHER big budget productions, i.e. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Dang I could talk about these forever. But I am being summoned. SO we'll continue this conversation in the very near future.

yikes, it's been a while

SO I'm officially a bad Entertainment Blogger. The reasons behind my neglect are numerous...I will indulge you with one that is, in fact, entertainment related. I have been consuming as many episodes of One Tree Hill as possible. Sad, but true. I had never seen the WB now CW show before but many a friend sad that I should check it out. Finally, a couple of weeks ago I was on my new favorite website, alluc.org, home of tons of movies, tv shows, and music videos (all streaming) when I came upon episodes of the show. I decided to watch the pilot. Everything deserves a chance right? Um, yeah. The rest is history. I watched the first 44 episodes in the next four days. Since that time I have stopped watching, only because I want to rent the DVD box set so that I can view the greatness in a higher quality. SO, the point of this story, actually there are two: 1) my blog laziness is a result of an entertainment driven pursuit, and 2) if you haven't seen the show already I HIGHLY recommend checking it out.
So, now you might ask, what is the deal with the Spiderman picture? It, believe it or not, is NOT due to my extreme excitement over the upcoming release of Spiderman 3 this summer. Instead it is the result of a Yahoo! news article I read this morning. Apparently Marvel has decided that Spiderman would make a great MUSICAL! That's right, just think, spiderman swinging over a stage on a wire singing to his red-headed love below. I think the song would go something like this: "oh Mary Jane, you are so vain, but before I get slain by a villian, I think you should know that beneath this web of lies, are two adoring eyes, so come with me, and you shall see, that my spidy sense also detects romance..."
Ok so maybe not. But I think I have something going here. Honestly though, a musical? It makes me sick to think about it. At least they aren't trying this stunt with Batman. Can you image the caped crusader singing and dancing? I suppose I can believe a guy like Peter Parker would sing show tunes, but Bruce Wayne...no f-ing way.
So I promise that I will attempt to be more diligent in my blog writing. I am procrastinating studying for exams right now just to deliver this tidbit of Hollywood news to you. Please if you have something as interesting, or if you have written your own Spiderman lyrics and you'd like to share, PLEASE email them to me. Send me a note at wolv.ebuzz@umich.edu and you can be reading your stuff right here!

EBUZZ NAMED BEST SHOW ON WOLV!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of the Entertainment Buzz for being named the Best Show on WOLV-TV! In a live awards ceremony Monday night awards were handed out for everything from Best Interview to Best New Show. Members of the station got dressed up, went to The Cottage Inn for dinner, and then went back to the studio for the live event. There was even a red carpet for the winners to walk down! A big thanks goes out to Justin Hetherman for all of his work this year as general manager. He played an instrumental role in the development of the ceremony and was the MC for the event. For more great pictures of all the awards winners and attendees of the event check out the Entertainment Buzz Facebook page!

Kid's Choice

I just love watching celebrities make fools of themselves, especially when it's for a good cause. I give major props to all those A listers who take time out of their busy schedules to give back to their younger fan base. Celebs like Justin Timberlake, Jake Black, Hilary Duff, Hayden Panettierre, Nicole Kidman, Queen Latifah, and Mandy Moore were just a handful of the celebs who turned out to Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards this weekend. Granted many used the opportunity for shamless plugs (Mandy Moore was introduced as a presenter using music from her soon to be released album) but that is a given at these award shows. The point is celebs can have fun, pretend they are kids again, while at the same time sparking interest in the younger fan base which will in turn go out and spend hoards of money on their products.
